編織是將線條化為平面的技術(shù)，

是人類最早開始發(fā)展的手工藝之一。

27000年前的舊石器時(shí)代遺跡中

就已經(jīng)發(fā)現(xiàn)了人類開始編織的證據(jù)。

 

Weaving is a process of 

turning lines into surface.

It dates back to the Upper Paleolithic age

about 27000 years ago.

 

Nowadays, 

this craft of beauty and practicality

is still widely employed.

People all over the world 

have developed their own weaving techniques

that look similiar from the outside

but distinct in their own dialougue.

 

時(shí)至今日，

除了更加發(fā)達(dá)的織品工業(yè)，

這項(xiàng)兼具美感與實(shí)用性的材料技術(shù)

也仍然被應(yīng)用在各種自然材料上。

散布在世界各地的族群不約而同地

關(guān)于工坊

About the Workshop

本工坊中，學(xué)員將會(huì)學(xué)習(xí)幾種金屬編織基礎(chǔ)樣式，并將其制成獨(dú)一無二的胸針或吊墜。學(xué)員將會(huì)先使用紙張?jiān)囎?，發(fā)展理念。確定設(shè)計(jì)后再使用金屬實(shí)踐。

 

本工坊適合零基礎(chǔ)或金工初學(xué)者。

 

 

 

In this workshop, participants will learn different basic weaving patterns and apply them to metal to make their own unique a brooch or pendant. They will start out learning and practicing in paper and then switch to metal once decided on a final idea. 

 

This workshop is fitted for students with little to no metal-smithing skills.

About the Tutor

 

 

Gussie van der Merwe是一位南非當(dāng)代首飾藝術(shù)家，她的作品結(jié)合了藝術(shù)、手工與設(shè)計(jì)。她擁有南非斯泰倫博斯大學(xué)視覺藝術(shù)的碩士學(xué)位以及創(chuàng)意首飾設(shè)計(jì)與金工的學(xué)士學(xué)位。Gussie曾去往荷蘭阿姆斯特丹的Gerrit Rietveld學(xué)院進(jìn)行一個(gè)學(xué)期的學(xué)術(shù)交流活動(dòng)。目前，Guessie在上海生活并進(jìn)行個(gè)人創(chuàng)作和首飾教學(xué)

Gussie van der Merwe is a South African artist whose work roams the intersection of art, craft and design.  She holds an MA in Visual Arts and a BA in Creative Jewellery Design and Metal Techniques from Stellenbosch University, South Africa.  Furthermore, she attended a semester exchange in Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, The Netherlandds.  Currently, Gussie is living in Shanghai, making and teaching jewellery.

"我的作品體現(xiàn)了過去五年我在中國(guó)生活的經(jīng)歷以及我去游歷過的國(guó)家，和我的祖國(guó)南非。作為出生于南非的高加索南非人，這一歐洲殖民主義的副產(chǎn)品，我的背景是交織在一起的多種文化體驗(yàn)的混合體。通過我的作品，我嘗試探索日益全球化對(duì)世界各地的文化影響，并在此過程中將不同的文化和身份相融合成全新的全球公民身份。”

“My work is a manifestation of my experience of living in China for the last five years, my travels to other countries and my South African heritage. As a Caucasian Afrikaner born in South Africa, a by-product of European colonialism, my background is a hybrid of cultural experiences woven together.  Through my work, I explore the cultural effects of an increasingly globalized world and in the process weaving together a new culture and identity - that of a global citizen.”
